Ruwan Nagahawatta

Dr Ruwan Nagahawatta is a Senior Lecturer in the Sydney International School of Technology and Commerce based in the Melbourne Campus, Australia. He was also a Research Fellow in Cyber Security at Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) – Data61 Australia (2023-2024). Before joining CSIRO-Data61, Ruwan worked as a Cyber Security Researcher at The RMIT University Centre of Cyber Security Research and Innovation, working on a number of cyber security research projects (2021-2023). He also worked on “Visiting/Sessional” lecturing positions in Deakin University, RMIT University, and Monash University.

Ruwan hold a PhD in Cyber Security from RMIT University, Australia, where he has primarily focused on the critical security and privacy factors influencing the adoption of cloud computing. He obtained a BSc Hons from University of Kelaniya and has completed a Master of Information Technology at the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. Ruwan has received professional recognition as a Certified Professional from the Australian Computer Society.

Ruwan’s research is interdisciplinary, and he has published numerous articles at the world’s leading conferences and high-impact journals. His research spans several areas in Cloud Computing Security and Privacy, Human-Centric Security, Gamification and IT Ethics. He has been serving on numerous information systems, cyber security and privacy conferences.
