Greg Whateley brings a wealth of leadership and academic experience to SISTC. With a career spanning over five decades, Dr Whateley is well known for his contributions to higher education, arts management, business management and the innovative application of virtual pedagogy, in particular.

Throughout his career, Professor Whateley has held senior leadership positions across Australia’s most respected institutions. He has served as Head of School at Griffith University, Deputy Dean at the Queensland Conservatorium, Director at the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music, General Manager at the Australian Institute of Music, Principal at the Australian International Conservatorium of Music, Director of Education and Quality at the National Centre for Language Training (University of New South Wales), Dean of The College at Western Sydney University, Chief Executive Officer and Deputy Vice Chancellor at Group Colleges Australia, Chief Executive and Executive Dean at the Australian Guild of Education and Deputy Chief Executive at the Australasian Academy of Higher Education. He is currently a Visiting Professor in Thailand and Italy.

Nationally and internationally, he has contributed to educational programs and research in four states of Australia and five countries, and having 1000+ publications to his credit has cemented his reputation as a global education leader and commentator. He is currently Chair/Member of numerous Boards as well as holding numerous Fellowships.

With a deep commitment to quality management and a vision for educational excellence, Emeritus Professor Whateley’s leadership will ensure that SISTC is well-positioned to enhance impact, strengthen reputation, ensure diversity of offerings – and uphold the highest standards of teaching and learning.

Associate Professor Nadeera Ahangama currently holds the position of Associate Dean at the Sydney International School of Technology and Commerce based in the Melbourne campus. With over a decade of experience in various Australian and international higher education entities, Nadeera has served in several senior academic leadership roles before joining SISTC. Since beginning her career as a university academic in 2007, Nadeera has demonstrated a strong commitment to student-centred education. She is passionate about enhancing higher education curriculum and pedagogy to create engaging learning experiences for her students.

In 2019, Nadeera earned her PhD in Information Systems from the University of Colombo, complementing her Master’s degree in Technology Management from Staffordshire University, UK. Throughout her academic journey, she has actively contributed to academia and academic management within the fields of Information Technology and Information Systems across various national and international universities. Nadeera’s research interests extend beyond traditional boundaries, encompassing interdisciplinary areas such as Information Systems, Knowledge Management, and the social aspects of disaster management and resilience. Additionally, she has a keen interest in information technology pedagogy, reflecting her dedication to advancing teaching practices in higher education.
