At Sydney International School of Technology and Commerce (SISTC) our Bachelor of Information Technology courses put you at the heart of the field that is driving our world forward. We have designed our Bachelor of Information Technology course so that if you want to be a cyber security analyst, network engineer, data analyst, software developer, IT project manager, business analyst, design multimedia experiences, or develop smart systems for the future, this course will give you the technical, analytical and creative skills to develop solutions, innovate and be successful in the information economy.

Business Information Systems BIT(BIS)

The major in Business Information Systems (BIS) provides depth in business intelligence, business process improvement and social media strategy.

Digital Enterprise BIT(DEN)

The major in Digital Enterprise (DEN) provides depth in network administration, cloud infrastructure and virtual systems and services.

ICT105 introduces students to the practical and conceptual aspects of utilising the common platforms that manage relational databases. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the foundations and functionality of database management systems.
ICT106 is designed to provide an understanding of technical services and user support within an organisational context, aligning seamlessly with the requirements of numerous entry-level IT professions. Emphasising user support, ICT106 highlights the importance of effective communication skills coupled with a profound understanding of technology and systems.
BUS102 delivers a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental principles of accounting and business strategies. Students will acquire essential skills and techniques skills to seamlessly integrate both financial and non-financial data, empowering them to make informed decisions in their managerial roles.
BUS103 offers a thorough examination of the intricate interplay between human behavior and organisational dynamics. ICT204 explores Design Thinking, an innovative problem‐solving method for product design that emphasises inclusive stakeholder engagement. Students apply this approach to solve problems and integrate it into a broader methodology for large‐scale IT projects.
ICT205 provides a comprehensive introduction to the principles and techniques of Data Analytics. Students will gain a solid foundation in data exploration, cleaning, data transformation and visualisation. Practical hands‐on exercises using popular analytical tool will equip students with the skills necessary for real‐world data analysis.
BIS201 focuses on the critical roles of Knowledge Management (KM) and Information Governance (IG) in modern organisations. BIS201 highlights the importance of managing information effectively, including the creation, storage, and elimination of irrelevant data.
DEN201 provides an in‐depth introduction to Enterprise Architecture (EA), vital for aligning business strategies with organisational structures. It explains EA as the organisation's core structure, detailing components, their interactions, and the guiding principles of design and evolution.
DEN203 explores the dynamic realm of Information Communication Technology (ICT) management with a keen focus on maximising organisational benefits. DEN203 delves into the core question: 'How can IT resources be efficiently managed to propel an organisation towards its goals?'.

ICT301 ‐ Professional Experience provides students with the opportunity to engage in an industry context, either through a project in a simulated industry environment or a real‐time, managed simulation for a study period. The Professional Experience is overseen by a senior academic staff member serving as an academic supervisor, with additional support from an industrial expert sponsor.
ICT302 Entrepreneurship and Innovation offers a significant focus on innovation as the contemporary driver for business success. It examines the concept of innovation from the perspectives of novelty, feasibility, and ability to add value.
ICT303 Capstone Project 1 enables students to collaborate on a real‐world industry IT project with a client to plan, elicit, and analyse the client’s business needs to determine a practical solution aligned with the client’s business objectives. Students will apply proven project management methodology and systems development life cycle tools and techniques to evaluate and create a project management plan addressing the client’s project requirements.
ICT304 ‐ Capstone Project 2 provides students with the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills they have gained in ICT303 and other units for design, development, implementation, and evaluation of an industry‐based IT Project. A case study approach is used in the design and development of a complex set of software services for an information system in a commercial application domain with a particular focus on the integration of new and legacy systems.
BIS301 is designed to fundamentally equip students with the knowledge and skills required to use business intelligence tools and techniques to solve contemporary business problems. Business intelligence (BI) comprises the software and services that transform raw data into actionable insights that enable an organisation to make decisions.
BIS302 provides a comprehensive exploration of business process improvement, focusing on the discipline of Business Process Management (BPM). BIS302 guides students through stages of BPM such as process identification, process discovery, analysis, redesign, implementation, and monitoring to enhance organisational efficiency.
BIS303 provides students with essential skills to craft and implement effective social media strategies in a business context. Covering platform nuances, content creation, community building, advertising, and analytics, students gain practical insights for leveraging social media as a strategic business tool.
DEN304 aims to help students understand what digital transformation truly means, its impact on organisations, and the process of digital transformation. Digitisation is crucial for businesses to maintain competitive advantages and drive innovations.

Students will navigate the diverse landscape of mobile app development, tackling Web, Native, and Hybrid approaches.

Students will explore vital concepts such as OSI and TCP/IP models, dive into IP networking protocols, routing, and IPv6 transition, and gain practical skills for IT administration, system administration, or network management.

DEN301 delves into the dynamic domains of Virtualisation, Docker Containerisation, and Kubernetes Orchestration. Commencing with a rigorous examination of virtualisation technologies, students advance to practical applications in Docker Containerisation, acquiring proficiency in the development and management of containerised applications.
DEN302 offers an in‐depth examination of the principles, strengths, and limitations of cloud computing. DEN302 delves into various cloud service and deployment models, exploring them thoroughly. Students will gain insights into the main challenges associated with the cloud, such as security, privacy, and vendor lock‐in.
DEN303 delves into cutting‐edge topics in information technology, focusing on innovative technologies such as social media, Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain, artificial intelligence, machine learning, etc. Through insightful discussions, case studies, and group and individual class activities, students will understand how these technologies redefine traditional business models and practices within this unit.
DEN304 aims to help students understand what digital transformation truly means, its impact on organisations, and the process of digital transformation. Digitisation is crucial for businesses to maintain competitive advantages and drive innovations.

General Admission

  • have attained 18 years of age on commencement of studies
  • Australian Senior secondary qualifications (New South Wales Higher School Certificate, ACT Year 12 Certificate, Queensland Senior Examination, South Australian Certificate of Education, Tasmanian Certificate of Education, Victorian Certificate of Education, Western Australian Year 12) with a minimum ATAR of 60; or
  • overseas secondary qualifications for meeting the admission requirements are listed in Appendix B. or
  • VET Certificate III or above in a relevant discipline; or.
  • satisfactory completion of at least one year of accredited full-time study at a registered institute of higher education at AQF level 4 or above in Australia; or
  • completion of an Australian University Enabling Program, or
  • credit granted under the SISTC Credit Transfer and Advanced Standing Policy.

School leavers

Australian Senior secondary qualifications as listed above with a minimum ATAR of 60.


International Students English Langauge Requirements

Applicants require one of the following, completed within the last 2 years:

  • IELTS Academic: 6.0 with no band less than 6.0; or
  • TOEFL: 536 or better; or
  • TOEFL IBT (International Benchmark Test): 74 or better; or
  • TOEFL CBT (Computer Based Test): 203 or better; or
  • Academic PTE (Pearson Test of English): 50 or better; or
  • Cambridge English: CAE and CPE (from 2015): 169 or better; or
  • General Certificate of Education (GCE): A Levels with a C or better in English; or
  • KITE: all bands B2 with a result greater than 425 in each band; or
  • Duolingo: overall 105 with no band less than 90. or
  • completed 12 months of study in Australia.

Applicants require an IELTS Test Score result of minimum 6.0, with no band lower than 6.0 (or equivalent TOEFL or Pearson Test for English).


Special and/or alternative entry

This includes mature age applicants and/or those who do not hold their HSC or equivalent. In the event that individuals without HSC or equivalent apply for admission, they are considered on the basis of credit granted under the SISTC Credit Transfer and Advanced Standing Policy. The school may also administer such procedures as tests and interviews

Genuine Student (GS) and Financial Requirements

International Students applying from offshore will be required to meet GS and financial requirements. The GS check is to ensure the student genuinely intends to stay in Australia temporarily to complete their chosen course of study.

Students must also be able to show sufficient financial resources to cover travel to Australia and 12 months of living costs and course fees for the student and any accompanying family members. The checks may also include an interview with the student to confirm their knowledge of study in Australia, their obligations under a student visa and their understanding of SISTC and the course they are planning to undertake.

Applicants for the Bachelor of Information Technology are assumed to have a knowledge of Mathematics at least at the standard of Australian Year 11 attainment.
